Typinator 4.1 simplifies creation of text expansions with presets

Hagenberg, Austria – Ergonis Software today announced the release and immediate availability of Typinator 4.1, a new version of their popular text expander. The new version allows to define set-specific presets for abbreviation options and speeds up the newly introduced QuickSearch function as well as the import of text files.

Bains Software announced the release of their first iPhone app: instaplaylist. instaplaylist is the universal remote for music. It allows users to quickly create a playlist of YouTube music videos from their iPhone or iPod touch and enjoy them on any computer on the same WiFi network.

The videos play on the user’s computer while they control playback from their iPhone. Videos continue to play even if the user exits instaplaylist or turns off their iPhone.

The iphone has taken the mobile phone community by storm with the unique design and innovation it carries. The mobile phone manufacturers are waking up, some of them are trying to bring something that knocks down the iphone phenomenum while the majority has opted for mimic functions and form. LG and Samsung announced phones packed with a lot of the iphone features, but Digisino Technology, a tawainese manufacturer of Mp3 Player & Mp4 Player, USB Flash Drive, Photo Frame and Digital Speakers has gone farther launching a MP3 player with voice recording that uses the iphone design and I don’t understand how can the CES Association let Digisino Tech. Co., Ltd. shows its products at CES 2008. Apple should have a CES presence next year.

Spotigo develops the world’s largest hotspot directory for the iPhone

Spotigo’s WiFi hotspot directory contains more than 250.000 hotspots in over 150 countries and now is adapted for the user interface of the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch. Spotigo offers a comprehensive search interface with a look and feel that users are familiar with from their Apple devices. It allows them to search for free and commercial hotspots in a certain area country, town, address and / or postal code. The result is displayed in a list where the users can see more details of the hotspot like provider, rates and contact details. The exact location of a certain hotspot can also be displayed on Google maps.

During a seminar with Apple in Paris, eZ Systems demonstrated eZ Publish running on Mac OS X Server v10.5 Leopard. In addition, eZ showed eZ Flow, a new extension for eZ Publish designed for media companies who need to build complex page layouts and pre-plan publication schedules to ensure a constant flow of rich content. Among other features, eZ Flow supports delivery of content to Apple iPhones.

Using an Apple Mac or iPhone for Web browsing? More people are, according to a Web metrics firm’s report issued Wednesday. Internet browser traffic from Apple products rose significantly in December, with the increase in the last two days of the month.
The Mac accounted for 7.31% of all the systems accessing the Web in the last month of the year, compared to 6.8% in November, according to Net Applications, which monitors traffic at 40,000 sites worldwide. The iPhone’s market share rose to 0.12% from 0.09% the previous month.

Excitement about the Apple iPhone and similar high-end mobile phones has created a secondary market for less expensive Chinese knockoffs in the UAE.

Stores in Dubai’s central business districts of Deira and Bur Dubai are stocking up on the Chinese clones, which include imitations of other famous brands including Sony Ericsson and Nokia.

The number of phones imported into the country from China is unknown, but importers and shopkeepers said the demand for the knockoffs has been high and has created a boom for smaller mobile phone retailers.

The smartphone market is shaping up like a three-horse race in 2008. BlackBerry remains the leader, Windows Mobile continues to make slow and steady progress, and Apple has come out of nowhere with the hottest and most widely-hyped product of year to become a legitimate contender with the iPhone.

A study by the IT analyst firm Canalys revealed that the iPhone surpassed Windows Mobile in market share in Q3 (see graph below).
